Let me preface this by saying I do NOT recommend moving your entire dang household twice in six months. Especially as a solo operator with entirely too much stuff. Zero out of five stars, do not want (or plan!) to do it again any time soon.
However, I got through it and have landed in my new home. Definitely not unscathed, but certainly relieved and happy to be there. I might even be catching up on some lost sleep. (Or perhaps that’s just sleeping more due to lingering exhaustion and stress. Probably that, but we’ll say catching up, m’kay? 😉)
Just don’t ask me to look at all the boxes and storage bags I still need to unpack and put away. Or the myriad other items still on the lengthy To-Do list…
On the other hand, the creative side of my brain is slowly coming out of shutdown and dropping hints that it might be ready to get back to writing soon. I’m beyond ready for that to happen. So are my alpha readers. They’ve been patient with me since they know what’s been going on, but that doesn’t prevent them from nudging me.
Since I have two primary projects that both need my attention, hopefully the holidays—and my editing deadlines—will be kind to me in this regard.
On another note, two of my author friends are due in the area this week for a visit. It’s been two, maybe three years since I’ve seen them in person, I think. Maybe more. Catching up ought to be fun! Especially since another mutual author friend—okay, so he’s more like my “adopted” older brother—will be there too.
Oh, the tales that don’t make it to the pages of our published stories… 🤣
Let’s just say that the last time we all got together, the zingers abounded and many laughs were had by all.
On that happy note, it’s time for me to get back to work.
What are you looking forward to this week and the rest of this month?
